Beginnings

Welcome friends! I have started this entry in the global technosphere because I have been in love with books since the age of 2. Among the busy business of being a new teacher, this is my outlet for sharing thoughts on a love of reading a wide variety of books. My inspiration can be summed up with a yearbook quote from a teacher written when I was 8: "To the only girl at recess I see reading a book. Good for you!"
My blog title is quoted from a classmate who asked me this once. Believe it or not, I've also heard it as a teacher :D

All I Want For Christmas

A seasonal weekly meme hosted by Danya @ A Tapestry of Words.

Every week until Xmas, bloggers are invited to share a book on their wish list.

I lost track of when this meme takes place, so sorry for missing it last week.  To make up for it, I'll post two books on my Xmas wish list :)

84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff

I love books with characters who read and, even better, books about the love of reading.  I've heard all good things about this and I thought the movie with Anne Bancroft (love all her work, RIP) and Anthony Hopkins was a sweet little gem.

A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving

I was captivated by The World According to Garp, so anything by Irving appeals to me now!  Many people claim this to be a favourite book of theirs, so it's worth at least a look-see :)

If you've read either of these, what do you think?  What books are on your Xmas wish list?

  2. Great choices! I love both of those books. I'm lusting after a long list of books, but Kafka on the Shore is near the top.

  5. I read 84 Charing Cross Road several years ago, so my memory is kind of fuzzy on the details, but I seem to recall it was an enjoyable read!

In case you were wondering, I post my pick every Thursday, but you are welcome to link up at any point during the week with your own :D The post is up on my blog if you'd like to stop by and link up for this week!
